Lake Blackshear Watershed Association
The LBWA was formed in the early 1980’s as a recommendation from a scientific advisory committee who had just completed an extensive water quality study on the Flint River and Lake Blackshear. It is a quasi-scientific group that monitors water quality in the river and lake and acts as a watchdog group in an advisory role to try and maintain the health and water quality of the lake. Its members are representing about a dozen different groups around the lake, including all the counties that border the lake, Crisp County Power Commission, Georgia Southwestern State University, Weyerhaeuser, Ga State Health Dept., DNR, Farm Service Agency, lake property owners and others. It has conducted several water quality studies in the past. The group meets quarterly at Ga Veterans State Park.
